Wines for the BBC’s Bill Buckley show

This month’s selection for Bill Buckley features a really famous Champagne with a fascinating history of which you might be unaware, another sparkler you’re unlikely to have encountered, an emerging wine region that might be unfamiliar and a bargain red from a high street stalwart that we’ll all know well.

To celebrate International Women’s History month, we’re talking about the role of women, specifically widows, in Champagne, celebrating the most famous of them all, Madame Clicquot with Veuve Clicquot NV Brut (£35 at Tesco or Majestic Wine).

To celebrate #BigEnglishWineEaster, we have a wonderful debut rosé from a relatively new name on the English wine scene. Roebuck Estates Rosé de Noirs 2016 (£40 at Roebuckestates.co.uk or Hedonism Wines).

We’re discovering the wine region of New York, tasting the fresh and delicious Osmote Seneca Lake Riesling 2018 (£26 at Woodwinters.com).

And finally, the perfect wine for Easter Sunday lunch, with this luxurious red from the Rhône. Famille Perrin Les Cardinaux 2018 (£8 on promotion at Coop stores until April 6th).
