#WOTW: a crunchy, light, fresh red that’s a real steal at Lidl
This week’s choice comes from the latest limited edition ‘Wine Tour’ offering at Lidl, which went into the shops last weekend, and it offers really great value for money.
The Saviour Cinsault (£6.49 at Lidl) comes from old vines in South Africa’s Swartland. If you don’t know Cinsault well, this a great introduction. Relatively pale in colour, it offers gently perfumed red fruit on the nose, with bright, crunchy red cherry in the mouth. It’s hugely moreish. I’d suggest pairing this with a salad of spinach, goat’s cheese and smoky bacon, or any grilled meats, but it’s surprisingly versatile for a red wine, so it would probably work with whatever you fancy.
