#WOTW: A smooth and spicy Cabernet from Washington
This week’s choice requires some fast work, as it’s currently on promotion, but only until November 5th. As it happens, it’s a good bonfire night wine too!
CS Wines of Substance 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon (usually £15, but currently £12 on promo at Morrisons*) is really nicely judged and also very gluggable. With ripe dark cherries, juicy red plum, a nice core of pencil lead and just a sizzle of spice.
The ‘CS’ bit is a reference to its creator Charles Smith, who is something of a legend in Washington and this wine shows what that state can do with Cab, at an attractive price (despite the weak Pound, strong Dollar).
If you want to know a bit more about Washington, do check out this piece I wrote after a visit earlier this year.
